August 2014 news-  New Headteacher in post Mrs J Mohamed

Oldmachar Academy was established in 1982 and moved to its current site in 1983.  It serves young people in the Bridge of Don area of Aberdeen. Many people - students, staff, parents and friends - have contributed to our successes. Many have benefited from our work.

We work hard to earn the trust of students and parents, fostering an environment in which people are valued and achieve.  We embrace the challenge of Curriculum for Excellence - our students are benefiting from new experiences as a result.

In a recent survey students told us the school's main strengths lie in how we:

  • expect them to work to the best of their ability
  • know them well
  • help them stay safe and healthy

In another survey, a third of parents told us they thought the school had improved in the previous year. They thought that among the things we did best were:

  • Promoting racial harmony
  • Treating all pupils fairly
  • Control bullying

We are pleased to be able to provde these reports as evidence of our continuing journey towards improvement.

The rest of this website provides a rich source of information. We hope people find it useful. We will be pleased to receive comments about how we might develop it.

Building Learning Power

Oldmachar Academy is developing a structured approach to supporting all young people to become resilient individuals, who are confident in identifying and tackling challenges in their learning.  This programme began as a mentoring scheme for S4 students, but will begin to affect the learning of all young people from August 2012 onwards.
